Following a 3-1 loss to Milton Keynes Dons last week, Swindon Town will be looking to bounce back with a result against Accrington Stanley - a side they play twice this month.

The Robins have won just twice at the Wham Stadium with the victories coming in 2011 and 2023.

Ian Holloway will be aiming to win his first league game on Saturday and four points separate the two sides, but how could Town line-up?

Formation – 3-4-3

It is tough to put a finger on what shape Town will go with as it was constantly changing on the weekend.

I've predicted a 3-4-3 because Swindon look best with the two in midfield but without Ollie Clarke in the team it might change to a three, but it’s hard to call.

Goalkeeper: Jack Bycroft

He’s the number one at the minute and it’s unlikely that will change. Whilst many fans weren’t happy with his parry away for the MK equaliser, he put a good shift in on the weekend making eight saves and shouldn’t be dropped.

Defence: Ryan Delaney, Will Wright, Tunmise Sobowale

Delaney was someone that was impressive on Saturday considering he hadn’t played in a while. Wright and Sobowale are self-explanatory to why they should be in the squad and now we’ve seen that Holloway is willing to play the former Shrewsbury defender as a centre-back, it becomes an obvious selection.

Wingbacks: George Cox and Joel McGregor

After being dropped due to "tactical decisions" for the Dons game, I think the time is right for Cox to come back into the starting 11. Rosaire Longelo had a tough time on Saturday and Cox's previous displays should bring him back into contention. With Sobowale moving into the middle, McGregor should slot into that right wingback spot.

Midfield: Gavin Kilkenny and Joel Cotterill

Trying to pick the midfield is complete guesswork. Clarke has been confirmed to miss out due to a twisted ankle. Kilkenny should be the first name of the teamsheet for the Accrington game as he was superb last week, but the other is a total gamble. To replace the attacking characteristics of Clarke, I think Cotterill is the closest to him in that regard.

Forwards: Sean McGurk, Harry Smith, Paul Glatzel

Upon reflection, predicting McGurk to start last weekend’s game was a very rogue shout, but he should finally get his first league start in Lancashire. He should suit well in this front three and he could even drop back into a ten-like role. Smith continued his goalscoring form with a record-breaking goal in 16 seconds, and if you provide him with chances, he will deliver. There is nobody in the current Swindon side that should take his place at the minute. Tshimanga didn’t have it easy on Saturday and for that reason, I predict Glatzel will take his place. He’s been struggling for game time as of late but the chance is there for him to start again. The ex-Liverpool player showed promise in his cameo against MK and could get his chance now.
