Will Stuart said that Bath Rugby are already developing the habit of winning games after making a rapid start in the Gallagher Premiership.

Bath have wasted no time making a statement this season, beating the side that defeated them in the Premiership Final last summer in Northampton Saints before seeing off Leicester Tigers on the road.

This weekend Bath could already accomplish something they didn’t last season by winning three league games in a row and Stuart said he feels like the determination of his teammates has fostered a real winning culture.

He said: “I think the nature of the two wins is very important, the first one being very dominant, although with stuff to work on, and then in the second game being able to win in less favourable circumstances and wrestle a win out is a good sign for the year.

“Leicester is a very tough place to go and a hostile atmosphere, so it was a litmus test for us as in previous years maybe we didn't have the same belief.

“Throughout the year there are going to be tough games when stuff doesn’t go your way, whether that be the rub of the green, refs, weather, so being able to win in situations like that is a massive positive.

“Winning and losing is a habit, I remember the first year Johann [van Graan] was here, we were on the end of some tough results, we lost by one point in I don’t know how many games.

“It can spiral a bit when you have lost a few in tough circumstances and it is the same with winning, once you start getting momentum then everyone has that belief.”

Stuart said that with a pair of local derbies coming up against Bristol and then Gloucester, he is greatly looking forward to the big atmosphere that comes with it.

He said: “These are always special games, I have been here five or six years now and when you speak to the lads who grew up here and came through the academy, these games mean a lot to them and you get brought along with that.

“In the Premiership last year we never had three wins in a row, so to do that against a massive rival at home after they have had a good start, it would be a great place to do it.

“You realise after you have played in a few of these games how much it means to the club and to the fans and I am really looking forward to the game.

“I am loving being back in Bath, last year was very motivating and I want to win something here and be part of a winning team.

“We want to be a team that doesn’t just win one Premiership but creates a legacy over a few years.”
