AFTER beating Warwick-shire on Monday, we’re through to the Twenty20 finals day – which is fantastic.
It was one of our targets at the start of the season and it’s really good to achieve it, especially with how tough it’s been in the County Championship.
It was great to see James Vince do so well and the way he dealt with all the pressure was brilliant.
For someone who’s only 20 years of age, he held his nerve in front of the television cameras and put in a really relaxed innings, he deserved to get the man of the match.
He’s someone I’ve played with a lot and I’ve said before that he’ll play for England and I think he showed that on Monday.
The team has been fantastic recently and it’s been tough for us having Dimitri Mascarenhas and Nic Pothas ruled out for the rest of the year.
We had five 20 year-olds involved and that just shows the quality of the club.
With the kind of young talent that we have coming through, we’ll be a force to reckon with in years to come. We’ve never been to finals day before and it’ll be really exciting occasion.
The atmosphere will be buzzing and everyone is looking forward to it.
The fact that it’s taking place at the Rosebowl this year makes it even better.
The chairman has put a lot of hard work in to bring it to the club and it’ll be fantastic to host it all. There’ll be 20,000 people in there and hopefully we can win the semi-final and maybe even the whole thing. I don’t know if I’ll be involved but I’m still really looking forward to it and I’m excited for all my mates that will be playing.
We’ve got a championship match against Lancashire, which starts today and it’s time to switch the focus to that.
I’ve had a bit of a week off and haven’t really played that much but we’ll see what happens and if I’m involved today.
Michael Lumb is back though and he’ll probably go straight into the team.
