OBVIOUSLY, it’s been a tough season for me and it’s been a little bit frustrating not being involved too much for the Hampshire first team – but that’s the life of a professional sportsman.
When you’ve got a strong squad, then you’re not always going to be involved all the time and that’s the way it is.
I’m only 20 and hopefully I’ve still got 20 more years of cricket in me – I’d love that to be at Hampshire.
I joined the club when I was 10 years old and they’ve been fantastic to me.
In years to come, I’d like to repay Hampshire for that by winning games for them.
After losing to Middlesex on Friday, it came down to the last game to qualify for the quarter-finals of the T20.
In the end, we got a pretty comfortable win over our local rivals Sussex and qualified, which is what we were aiming to do.
In the quarter-finals, anything can happen and it’s all about who performs on the day.
We’ll be taking on Warwickshire at Edgbaston and we beat them there in a one-day game earlier this season, so hopefully we can do that again.
I also think that Hampshire are right to not pick Kevin Pietersen for the match against Kent on Sunday. He’s a good player but he doesn’t want to play and I think that it’s fair enough.
I was back playing for Goatacre again on the weekend but I won’t be able to make it again this time. But I will take a look at my Hampshire fixtures and try and make myself available for the big game against Lechlade on August 7.
