WITH the Twenty20 taking over the domestic calendar in the last couple of months, if you are not in the side it is a bit of a quiet time.
Unfortunately, that’s been the case with me in recent games, so I was looking forward to getting back into Hampshire action with the second team game against MCC Universities, which started on Tuesday.
It’s difficult when you are not playing that much, it’s a question of practising and nets to try and keep yourself in tune.
I’ve not been involved in the last few Twenty20 games and don’t feel like I’ve played much cricket this summer, but Hampshire are still in with a chance of the quarter finals.
If we can win our last two games, we should be there and, with finals day at the Rose Bowl this year, the incentive is there for us to try and be involved.
The County Championship will kick back in during the next couple of weeks and there is also an important job to be done there.
We need points to stave off the threat of relegation after our poor start to the season.
It’s been great to go back and play for Goatacre in the past few weeks and things are going well there at the moment.
We are hanging in there challenging for the top positions and had another great win (against Great Bedwyn) on Saturday.
My brother Brad bowled well for five wickets and Ed Wilkins contributed a great century.
There is a lot of talent at the club and I think we have surprised a few people by challenging for honours.
