IT HAS not been a great week for the club and that was capped off by us getting a hammering on Monday at Worcester.

We made 220 from our 40 overs which was not a bad score for the wicket but we just didn’t bowl well enough.

Worcester have got a big strikeforce at the top of their order and it’s part of the reason they’re doing so well in one day cricket.

We dropped Steven Davies when he was on 28 and it was a bit of a shambles after that.

Corky was injured after being hit by a beamer when batting by Gareth Andrew which is something nobody likes to see.

It was an accident and he was probably going for a yorker, and it needed a few stitches after going to hospital.

That’s no excuse for our bowling performance though as we’re all professionals and it’s our job to go out there and bowl properly.

I only made 12 with the bat as well and have struggled to score runs all season in one day cricket. But thankfully I made a few runs in the four day game against Somerset.

I made 55 after opening the batting and the coaches have said to me that will be something they try for the rest of the season now with Carbs being out injured.

I’ve done it a little bit before for the second team and at lower levels of cricket but it’s a really good opportunity for me and I’ve hit a couple of fifties in my last three innings so I’m in decent form in four day cricket.

Unfortunately we only got a draw against Somerset as bad light meant we didn’t have time to knock off the runs.

We’re playing decent cricket and have got two good draws recently but we really need to get a win now.

Finally, I’ll be playing in a charity game I have helped organise on Sunday at 2pm at Goatacre cricket club.

The day is to raise funds for Hilmarton’s Julie Slade, who has sadly been diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time, and needs the drug Avastin, which is not available on the NHS.

I’ll be bringing a team of England U19 and Hampshire players, and the Friends Provdent trophy will be on display, so it should be a good day hopefully plenty of you can come along in support.
