I’M still tired now writing this column after a ten-and-a-half hour trip back from Durham on Sunday, but the main thing was we got the two points we needed.

The win ended up being via the Duckworth Lewis method, but we’ll take it, and that’s two wins out of three in the Pro40 for us now and if we win our remaining games we’ll win the league.

Obviously we’ve done well in one day cricket all year with the Friends Provident win and reaching the quarter finals of the Twenty20 cup so hopefully we can do it.

Lumby and James Vince saw us home with the bat and Vincey proved how much of a good player he is.

He looked comfortable on his one day debut and I’m sure he can keep his place for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately we could only get a draw at Durham in the County Championship game, which was frustrating.

Again, the wicket at Trent Bridge was so flat and only 22 wickets fell in four days.

It was always going to be a tough task to win up there but it’s getting harder to bowl sides out and I think that’s a problem.

If you look at a ground like Somerset’s at Taunton, you hardly get any results and maybe it’s about time the rules were changed to a system where you don’t get any points for a draw, for example.

Obviously it’s down to the ECB and up to them whether they want to do something.

As a player you just get on with it and play in the conditions that are in front of you.

I got 43 against Notts, on the back of a fifty before, and am back in form with the bat.

We’ve had a blow with Carbs being ruled out for the season with a broken finger, as he’s been our best player this year, but it means someone will have to step up in his place and score heavily.

I’m writing this before Tuesday’s Gloucester game but we haven’t lost on TV this year so let’s hope that continues.

We then have a massive game at the end of the week at home to Somerset. We need a win or at least a high-scoring draw to keep us in the hunt to avoid relegation.

Sussex, in fifth, could still go down so that’s how tight it is and it’s all to play for.
