I AM delighted to see fellow Wiltshire man and Hampshire team-mate James Vince getting his Test chance.
I said last week that I would be over the moon if he got the call-up and it probably looks like he is going to play (the match was due to start this morning) and bat at number five.
That is massive for him and good for Wiltshire cricket too. It's a big loss for Hampshire because he is a massive player for us but it will give an opportunity for someone else to come in and score some runs.
Like myself, he has come through the Lions set-up and I think that tries to copy international cricket in a way to try and make that step from domestic cricket a little bit smaller.
There is a lot more pressure when you are playing for England. It is results-based, and he will probably feel that a little bit.
However, I think he will be fine at Test level. He knows his game now and has played a lot of first-class cricket and is in some pretty good form.
I don’t think he has got anything to lose. Everyone goes through their debut and knows what it feels like. It will be a nerve-wracking experience but I am sure he will enjoy every moment.
Personally, I think Test cricket will suit him, playing on better wickets, and if he sticks to his game, then I think he will have a very good Test career.
The number five spot has become vacant as a result of the heart problem for James Taylor that cruelly cut short his promising career.
It was a nightmare for him. I had played a fair bit of U19 cricket with him and played against him for Notts and Leicester.
It is such a shame to see somebody that good go out of the game and have to retire at the age of 26.
He will be very disappointed that he won’t be able to fulfil his dream of playing Test cricket for England because his record was exceptional, one of the best in the country.
I think England are in a pretty good position when it comes to Test cricket.
English cricket is in a pretty good state it is going to be another exciting summer with Sri Lanka and Pakistan coming up, and they are probably two series they expect to win.
