ALL cricketers just want to play and it is nice to be back out in the field playing with Hampshire.
We managed to scrape a draw against Warwickshire after being up against it, probably a game we would have lost last year, and we've been at Headingley and should be able to get a draw.
By the time people have read this, we should have played the two best teams and got two good draws to start the season.
I made fifty in the opening game and it is nice to score some runs early in the season and I bowled well as well, which is always pleasing.
I haven’t bowled much against Yorkshire because I have torn one of my abdominal muscles and could miss two or three weeks, which is pretty frustrating.
I haven’t been injured too much and it is obviously very frustrating but it has come at a good time as we now have a 10-day break before our next game to give it time to heal and I might be able to play as a batsman in the next game, but I don’t think I will be able to bowl.
It is a long season and hopefully I will be back pretty soon.
At this time of year, it is not about feeling good in yourself, it is about putting performances in. It is proper cricket and it doesn’t matter how you feel. You have got to be scoring runs and doing a job with the ball.
