WE WERE given four days off over the weekend and it was pretty nice for everybody to have the chance to get away and recharge the batteries after a busy first month.
We’ve played four County Championship games in April and it’s flown by really quickly.
April is always a difficult time of the year to play because of the weather and we’ve only managed to complete one game, which was a convincing win against Gloucestershire, but we’ve played some decent four-day cricket so far and tried to pick up as many bonus points as we could.
Vincey (James Vince) has started the season really well, scoring 400 runs already, and Kyle Abbot has bowled pretty well too.
Our next game four-day game starts on Sunday against Glamorgan but we’re doing a bit of floodlight training this week and we’ve also got two friendlies against Dorset to get us ready for the Twenty20.
It’s always a tough time of year for batsmen so everyone’s excited about it because it’s just nice to free yourself up and have a go at hitting the white ball.
We’ve obviously done well in the Twenty20 recently and it’s something that we enjoy.
Last weekend, I went back to play for Goatacre and it really was one of those games for them.
It just didn’t go well but I’m sure they’ll be absolutely fine this season.
I always try and help out my brother (Brad) by signing someone on for them.
Last season it was Woody (Chris Woods) and Colesey (Matt Coles) played last weekend.
But with all of the championship cricket we’ve played this season, I don’t think that we’ll be available for them very often this summer and I don’t think we’ll play again this season.
