WE had a really exciting game on Saturday and it definitely was a seven-goal thriller.
We got to see some great attacking football and a few indifferent refereeing decisions but the lads did well to hang on and stop Cambridge nicking a draw.
I know that Nathan and Rich will be looking to try to get the team to tighten things up at the back because we have been conceding goals and learning to keep sides out gives you a good platform to build on.
But it is a positive that we look so good offensively at the moment and that we’ll always score goals.
On Monday, we came up against a Frome team that were just more up for it on the day and it was really disappointing for us.
We improved in our approach play in the second half up to the edge of the area but we struggled to create anything and I can only really remember one clear cut chance that we carved out, which was Steve Casey’s header.
Local derbies always have players that know each other on both sides, players that have played for both sides and ex-managers too, to add that bit of spice, and on this occassion, the plaudits will go to Frome.
I know that people care about bragging rights but at the end of the day, it’s only three points and hopefully we can get the plaudits in the next fixture.
At the moment, whatever side people come to watch, they’re guaranteed to see goals.
Chippenham Park had a great 5-0 win on Tuesday night and Mark Nolan, Shane Blackmore and Nathan Campbell all scored some great goals on the night.
Then Park reserves also had a fantastic 6-0 win over Marlborough Town reserves on Saturday, so they’re also doing very well.
Jamal Chevolleau scored a good goal and he’s an exciting young winger that I’ve got my eye on in that side.
