I’VE said before that the end of the season cannot come quickly enough for us.
It’s about getting the players out of the firing line and hopefully recharging their batteries over the summer.
We need to go away and have a look at some fresh talent because things do need freshening up.
We need more quality in our team – but you have to pay for quality.
Stourbridge last Saturday were another example – a club with a bigger budget and able to attract those better players.
I’ve had a couple of chats with the board about things and I believe that behind the scenes, things are looking promising with what John Applegate the chairman and Neil Blackmore (new vice-chairman) are trying to do.
They are gearing themselves up to get a lot of things right for next year and with Stuart Gillies arriving as commercial director, they are making great strides to put the club on a sound footing.
I still want to be part of that.
Again, against Stourbridge we created some really good chances in the first half but we were caught out by a little lapse in concentration.
(Goalkeeper) Kev Sawyer held his hands up for their second goal. He just misjudged the flight of the ball.
For their first goal he made a fantastic save but we didn’t react, even though we had five players in and around that area.
Kev’s made two or three great saves, especially as he’s only really about 80 per cent fit But they got the first goal and we huffed and puffed a little bit after that.
We’ve spoken a little bit about what happens when your luck is out.
When you are down and things are not going well those little half-chances just seem to go against you.
