I WAS pretty pleased to come back from Bashley with a point and get away from that pattern of winning one and then losing one.
It was a difficult place to go to but the lads put in a good performance and might have won the game on another night.
You always want to try and pick up points on the road and we need to try and go on a run now.
We were forced to change the team round again because of a players like Dave Gilroy and Kye Holly who’ve picked up little knocks – it’s ongoing at the moment.
We’ve also had players playing through the pain barrier like Mani (Randhawa), Steve Casey, Curtis Jack, Toby Osman and Ashley Williams and that’s because this means so much to all of them.
It’s not all about me – I’m the one that people will look to criticise when things aren’t going right but I’m just pleased for this group of players because they’ve shown a fantastic attitude coming off the back of what went wrong at Cambridge (City) last week.
We haven’t gelled and clicked because we’ve had so many people playing in different positions but they’ve continued to show what a good team spirit they’ve got.
I want them to go and build on that now.
Sam (Allison) has been fantastic and he’s shown a fantastic attitude for us – he’s always come to watch our games and he still keeps in contact with the lads.
He still comes to training when he can and he was more than happy to come and help out when I asked him.
It’s a mark of the man that he hasn’t severed his ties with what we’re trying to do at the football club, so hopefully we can utilise him more until the injuries clear up.
The FA Cup is a national competition that everyone wants to try and do well in and we’re no exception.
A lot of people will look at it and say that we’re ‘only playing Wells’ on Saturday but they beat Bishops Cleeve, who are a side full of good Southern League players – I know their manager and I’ve heard that they throughly deserved it on the day.
They could easily punish us if we’re not at it and they’ll have nothing to lose so I’ll be reminding the lads that they’ve got to be at their best to get the right result from the game.
