STRUGGLING Calne almost caused an upset on Saturday as they were narrowly beaten by title-chasers Lechlade.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Darren Holcombe taking three wickets.
Lechlade’s Ross Jeffels top-scored with just 22 while Adrian Stenner hit 20, but Stuart Whitty, Courtney Earl and Chris Downham all took two further wickets as the visitors were skittled for 151 in the 45th over.
Thomas Knight led the run-chase for Calne with 41 from 48 balls, with Jordan Butler making 27.
Despite Dan Knight’s side looking on course for the win at 125-5, the Lechlade bowlers piled the pressure on the Calne batting order, with Stenner claiming five wickets for just 15 runs.
Jeffels took a further three as Calne were bowled out for 142 in the 41st over, sealing a narrow nine-run win for Lechlade.
