MARLBOROUGH are claiming local bragging rights after dispatching close rivals Great Bedwyn by nine wickets on Saturday.
Marlborough skipper Ben Head then took matters into his own hands and hit an unbeaten 86 from 83 balls, as his side romped to victory.
It was the visitors who won the toss and chose to bat first, with opener John Palmer hitting 64.
Rob Palmer made 37 from 38 balls while Chris Blundy added 22.
Skipper Head claimed two wickets, as George Stone’s side posted a total of 160-7.
But Marlborough were on target with the bat, with Nick Crabbe making 48 from 55 balls, to add to his captain’s haul.
Steve Jones hit 11 from 10 balls to steer the hosts to 163-1 in the 25th over.
Marlborough are sitting fourth in the table, a place above their rivals, and can claim the bragging rights for the season after the reverse fixture was cancelled in May.
Head’s side are away to third-placed Winsley this weekend while Great Bedwyn are at home to seventh-placed Malmesbury.
