WOOTTON Bassett’s losing run finally came to an end on Saturday, as they claimed a four-wicket victory over fellow strugglers Hatherley & Reddings.
After six consecutive defeats, Mark Vincent’s side picked up their first win since beating Hatherley by 55 runs in May’s reverse fixture.
After winning the toss, the hosts opted to bowl first, with Harvey Cummins, Irfan Sahar and Jaspal Chalal all taking three wickets each.
Rob Burford hit 32 for his side while Andre Soma made 16, but the visitors were skittled for 149 in the 41st over.
Cummins led the run-chase for Bassett, hitting an unbeaten 69 from 54 balls late on.
Despite Hatherley’s Raymond Otter taking three wickets, Sam Burdock and Ravi Samant hit 25 and 21 respectively as Vincent’s men reached 151-6 in 42 overs.
Bassett travel to third-placed Rockhampton this weekend.
