CALNE are off the bottom of the Wiltshire Division after thrashing Malmesbury by 10 wickets on Saturday.
Dan Knight’s side bowled first and tore through their opponents’ line-up, with Darren Holcombe claiming four wickets.
Stuart Witty took three while Chris Downham claimed two as Malmesbury stood at 69-9 after 25 overs.
The visitors chose to declare but Courtney Earl and Jon Anstee De Mas cruised to 70 in the 17th over.
“I don’t really know why they chose to declare,” said the Calne captain.
“Maybe they wanted to deny us three extra bowling points in case they’re near us at the end of the season – that’s all I can think of.
“What matters is that we won and it was a really good performance.
“It was the best I’ve seen us bowl all season.”
Calne travel to fellow strugglers Nationwide House this weekend while Malmesbury host title-chasers Goatacre.
