GOATACRE’S charge for the Wiltshire Division is still on track after a 145-run win over Marlborough on Saturday.

The weekend’s victory was a ninth consecutive win for Craig Gibbens’ side and the Goatacre skipper was delighted with his side’s latest performance.

“It was a really good all-round performance and it’s important that everything comes together at this stage of the season,” he said.

“We got maximum points and thought that we were going to go top, but then we found out that Lechlade had done the same thing.

“Because you can’t draw in our league, it looks like it could come down to the game against them.

“But another side could do us a favour and they’re probably hoping for the same thing.”

Goatacre batted first after winning the toss, with Ed Kilbee hitting 74 and Jack Haines making 62.

Luke Edwards’ added an unbeaten 42 as the hosts posted 260-4.

Goatacre then set to work on the Marlborough batting order, with Matthew House and skipper Gibbens both taking three wickets each.

Will Langton hit 39 for the visitors but Brad Dawson took two further wickets as Marlborough were skittled for 115 in the 32nd over.

Goatacre are at Malmesbury this weekend while Marlborough host Great Bedwyn.
