PETE Dennett conceded his Corsham side weren’t good enough as they slipped to a 135-run defeat to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.
Dennett won the toss and chose to bowl, with Quasim Khurshid taking four wickets for Corsham.
Ashur Morrison and Will Collier both took two but the hosts still posted a sizeable total of 312, thanks largely to Edd Brown’s score of 72, Robert Turner’s 59, and 43 from Gary Morgan.
After Weston were skittled in 55 overs, Corsham’s run chase was led by Pete Turner, who made 55.
Skipper Dennett was closest behind with 31 and Tom Hankins added 21, a week on from hitting a spectacular 293.
Andy Fear took three wickets as Corsham were all out for 177.
“We just weren’t very good,” said captain Dennett.
“We didn’t bowl well, we didn’t field well and we didn’t bat well – you’re never going to win a cricket match like that.
“The wicket wasn’t great and it didn’t improve, so I made a mistake choosing to bowl first.
“We need to bounce back from this result now because it’s not a game we should have lost.”
