ADAM Croutear took a last-gasp hat-trick as Devizes came out on top in a nervy clash with Malmesbury on Saturday.
With the hosts needing 25 runs from 18 balls to win the game, Croutear’s three consecutive wickets sealed the victory for Jon Couch’s side.
“It was a great way to win the game and it looked as though Malmesbury were going to win,” said the Devizes captain.
“Tom Shaw’s was only playing his fourth game for the firsts and his century was really important.”
Seventeen-year-old Shaw hit 106 for Devizes on their way to 285-6, with openers James Langan and Paul Stobbart making 113 between them.
Toby Horton and Richard Gaunt hit 48 and 35 respectively in reply for Malmesbury, but Tom Grant and Crautear’s three wickets apiece had the visitors all out for 261 in 43 overs.
