SUE COOKE has qualified for her third Wiltshire National Championship final at North Wilts later this month, writes DAVE EATON.
The Box player booked her place in the top event, four wood singles final, with two comfortable victories in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the championship event held at Bradford-on-Avon last weekend.
Cooke was already through to the county fours and triples finals as well as qualifying to represent Wiltshire in these two events in the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa at the beginning of August.
A new name is certain to be engraved on the Wiltshire singles trophy this year as neither Cooke nor her fellow finalist, Sandra Bartlett (Winsley), have ever reached this stage of the competition before.
Cooke opened up at Bradford with a convincing 21-8 success over Janet Daniell and then defeated Delia Godwin (Chippenham T) by five shots.
In the bottom half of the draw, Avon’s Michele Williams, the 2005 champion, accounted for Rosemary Nichols 21-10 but then was totally outbowled by Bartlett.
Williams only managed one shot as Bartlett raced away with the semi-final 21-1 and booked her place in the final against Cooke.
