Adie Mings has confirmed that defender Nathan Rudge has re-joined Chippenham Town.

The 30 year-old agreed a deal to return to Hardenhuish Park on Monday night, after ending an eight-year spell at Tiverton Town last month.

Meanwhile, the Bluebirds got their hands on the Fred Rutty Cup as they cruised to a 5-0 win over Calne Town in their first pre-season friendly.

Mings' side took the lead early on when defender Matt Ralph, who skippered Calne last season, found Alan Griffin, who casually lobbed the ball over the hosts' keeper and into the net.

Triallist Rob Smart, who scored 23 goals for Toolstation League side Bishop Sutton last season, grabbed Chippenham's second when he poked the ball home after his initial shot was saved.

The Bluebirds grabbed a third before half-time when Griffin nodded George Nash's corner down into the path of Luke Gullick, who stabbed the ball into the net from close range.

Midway through the second-half, Mings' side had a penalty when Smart was tugged back in the area by Calne midfielder Jordan Roberts.

The former Bristol City youth player took the kick himself, calmly slotting home his second and Chippenham's fourth.

The hosts struggled to create a single clear cut chance and the Bluebirds wrapped up their evening's work with a late long-range strike from young midfielder Aaron Tinson.
