Tommy Bridewell couldn’t wait to see the back of MCE Insurance British Superbike round six after torrential rain and gale force winds ruined race-day at Knockhill.
The 21-year-old from Etchilhampton opted to pull in to the pits with less than a third of a twice-restarted race one left following an error with the temperature of his tyres.
Bridewell reached boiling point before then with a torrential downpour seeing the race red flagged after just two laps and then again shortly after the restart following a crash on the first corner.
The Quay Garage Honda rider’s frustrations were compiled when race two was called off after less than a lap with 60mph winds sweeping across the Scottish track.
“By the time that happened and then we had to wait around to see if the second race was going to go ahead or not I had had enough of the place and wanted to just pack up and go home,’’ said Bridewell.
The abandoned second race will now take place during round seven at Snetterton in less than two weeks time and he added: “I seem to go well there and power-wise we should be a lot better.
“We are due to have a new engine fitted and that should give us a little bit more when we get there and hopefully we can have a good race and get us up where we know we can be.”
l British Eurosport 2 will be broadcasting every round of the 2010 MCE British Superbike Championship. The channel is available on Sky 411 & Virgin Media 525.
