BEN Head came out on top in a battle of the captains, as Marlborough recorded a 64-run victory over Devizes on Saturday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Head top-scored for his side with 95 from 106 balls, while Arran Dickinson wasn’t far behind with 83 from 103 deliveries.
Devizes skipper Jon Couch hit back, taking five wickets and, despite Pete Ross claiming a further two, the visitors finished on 266-8.
Tom Shaw hit 38 for the hosts in reply, with Barney Read making 37.
James Langan and Matt McCann both chipped in with 30, as Devizes chased their target.
However, Head was on-form again, claiming three home wickets.
George Fox took another two as time ran out for Devizes, who fell short on 202-8.
The result leaves Marlborough fifth in the Wiltshire Division table while Devizes stay seventh.
Marlborough host bottom-club Calne this weekend while Devizes have another mid-table clash away to sixth-placed Malmesbury.
