The first Malmesbury 10k was on saturday 5th September. Nearly 100 runners took part in the first event of it's kind, organised by James Higgs of Active Events.
With conditions kind to the runners, the race got underway from The Activity Zone Leisure Centre after being started by the mayor of Malmesbury.
The route took the runners away from the centre around the local lanes of Malmesbury, before finishing at the leisure centre.
Mark Lester of malmesbury won the event in an impressive 36 minutes and 36 seconds, almost four minutes clear of the next athlete home Paul Davis in second place, it brought an end to a good season for Mark which also saw him score a Personal best time in the Triathlon at Malmesbury a week before.
The first female home was Nicloa Denning also of Malmesbury in 41 minutes and 40 seconds and she finished 3rd overall in the race.
All competitors finished the challenging course, and are looking forward to the evnt again next year.
