DEVIZES completed their preparations for the new league season, which starts on Saturday, with a home defeat to London touring side King's College Old Boys.
The Saddlebacks dominated territory for the first 15 minutes, but created only one scoring opportunity when centre Dan Mayland breached the defence only to see his final pass go astray.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring when they counterattacked from a Devizes kick-ahead for a try.
Devizes were put under further pressure after conceding several penalties, only relieved by full-back Rory Brown sidestepping out of defence and setting up a passing movement from which Craig Hurcombe scored.
Matt Holloran converted to put Devizes 7-5 ahead at the interval.
King's restored their lead with a successful penalty kick but, within five minutes number eight James Gaiger had marked his return from Chippenham with a well-taken try inside King's 22.
Despite leading 12-8, Devizes began to give ground and it was no surprise when the visitors edged close to the line and charged through for the winning converted try.
