POTTERNE captain Graham Gaiger believes the club is on the verge of big things after securing promotion from the Wiltshire Division.
The club clinched the title with victory at Westing-house on Saturday after a season-long battle against Marlborough and Winsley.
Potterne’s second team also finished runners up in their league and the third team won Division Six of the Wiltshire Leagues, leaving Gaiger dreaming about what might be next.
“I always knew we had a squad capable of mounting a challenge,” he said.
“However we lost our first two games and and I honestly thought then we were just in it to enjoy our cricket and finish in the top half.
“But since then we won 13 games and lost only one. It’s a testament to the players and it has been a fantastically enjoyable season.
“Our thirds won promotion too. We’re thinking of introducing a fourth team next year and have over 100 kids at training, so things are looking good for Potterne.”
Gaiger will look to avoid a repeat of last year’s champions Lechlade, who finished bottom of the Glos/Wilts Division this season.
“There will be seven teams in their own mini-league and I think we can compete.”
Australian overseas star Ardil Domingo will decide by the end of September if he is to stay on for another year.
