BLUEBIRDS captain Ross Adams says Saturday’s game against Cambridge will be their toughest of the season so far and a test of how far the side has come.
Chippenham have enjoyed a fine start to the season having picked up 14 points from a possible 18 and maintained a 100 per cent home record.
They now visit fellow promotion contenders at the weekend, who are hot on their heels in fourth place, and Adams says last year’s results will count for nothing.
“It will definitely be our toughest test so far this season,” he said.
“But it’s a game we can use as a bit of a marker to see how we’ve come this season after the good start.
“We beat them 1-0 at their place last year but that was a very difficult game and it’s never an easy place to go.”
Adams could be joined in defence by Greg Tindle on Saturday and the skipper has been impressed with the young centre back.
“Tinds is a lot like myself in that he’s come up a couple of divisions,” he said. “But he’s slotted straight in.
“He’s an out-and-out defender who does nothing fancy but likes to win his headers and tackles.
“He’s probably one of our best players so far this year.”
