BEFORE the midweek match we talked about playing Hemel here last year on a Tuesday night, when we dominated the game and missed so many chances and ended up losing the game.
So it was important that we got a foothold in the game and took our chances.
We were clinical in front of goal, still wasteful at times, but mostly clinical.
I believe that this group of players we have at this moment in time, if they beleive in what they can do, I believe they can go on and really do something special.
We don’t want to put pressure on them as they’re young lads. Its up to them to turn up to each game with the right attitude, the right mentality and try to do the right things.
They’re not always going to do that but if they can do the right things more often than not then there’s the nucleus of a good side here.
We have brought Jon Davies in and are awaiting international clearance for Jan Klukowski, which should be with us very soon, but that just means there is competition for places all over the park.
Those who are not on their game , or are not playing to their potential or the potential we expect will end up on the bench or sat in the stands.
I believe it’s healthy to have competition for places and it keeps everyone on their toes.
It keeps people fresh and keeps eveyone looking over their shoulder.
With the run of games we’ve got in September it bodes well so we can cover the injuries, suspensions and some of the lads who are lacking match fitness.
We play Leamington and Clevedon over the Bank Holiday weekend and I’m hopeful we'll get in a centre forward from Bristol Rovers before those games. I don’t want to name names before the deal is done but if he comes he'll add to the competition for places.
As good a side we are going forward, Ben Highmore has got a cut, Sam Allison is not match-fit and Shaun Benison, is struggling with a hamstring, so only Lewis Powell is fighting fit.
We need to get some extra bodies in to cover in all departments.
