This eagerly anticipated "friendly" between premier division Cooper Avon and FC Jager from division three lived up to the hype and expectations.
The visitors - FC Jager made the most of the opportunity to play at the home of football.
The players dressed in their Sunday best had a walk around The Conigre before the game, taking time to wave to their friends and family in the away stand.
Gary Newman manager of the tyre-men was keen for his players to treat the game like any other - fully taken onboard by Dave Macey who turned up 15 minutes before kick off in his flip-flops.
Some of the big crowd would still have been taking their places in the stands when the Tyremen's Simon Gillatt opened the scoring. A fantastic left foot volley beat Shaun Bryant in the Jager goal.
Over zealous celebrating was order of the day and Gillatt set the tone with his jog past FC Jagers dugout.
The lead was short lived when good link up play from Nick Ridout and Gary Higdon beat the offside trap and Ridout laid a goal on the plate for Higdon to lap up.
Cue more celebrating infront of the dugouts.
FC Jager then had their best period of the game, culminating in the impressive Nick Ridout taking the lead with a turn inside of makeshift centre half Ashley Groves and an arrow like struck shot past the despairing Alex Shaftoe.
The celebrations after the goal that continued into the half time dressing room spurred on the Tyremen in the second half.
The red hot Simon Gillatt equalised with a rare header following a cross from Mikki Harrison. The headed goal was powered past replacement keeper Dave Butler.
From then on there was only going to be one winner. Substitutions disjointed the second half and FC Jagers goal threat disappeared with the replacement of the dangerous Ridout. However, the introduction of Sayeed Ibrahim, Dan Kovacs & Graham Griffiths gave the Tyremen fresh impoteus.
Luke Turvey who had struggled to get into the game was brought inside in a move that immediately paid dividends. Turvey picked up the ball within thirty yards of the Jager goal and coolly passed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
With Tom Robinson setting the tempo in midfield, it was only a matter of time before the outstanding Gillatt would get his hat trick.
Good interplay from skipper Josh Robinson & Sayeed Ibrahim ended with an individual strike from Gillatt to cap his man of the match performance and put the icing on the cake in Cooper's 4-2 success.
Tony Frith who had refereed the game with control and in the right spirit brought the game to an end.
Darren Perrin presented the "The Champions of Melksham Super Sunday Cup" (donated by the Cobblers Bench) to Josh Robinson.
