Last seasons reebrooks print media sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup winners Corsham Centre should once again do well but with the Centre concentrating more on regaining the Wiltshire Sunday Cup they may make an early exit from this seasons competition.
Should that be the case it would leave the door open for a host of clubs to claim cup glory with the being contention Biddestone Social, Box Rovers, Cooper Avon and Potterne who all hail from the premier division.
Having lost out to the Centre in last season’s showpiece final first Division Pheasant FC would love to go one step further this season but they may not have in them to reach another final.
Division Two’s best hopes of success will lie with AFC Bell and Hullavington who were one of last seasons beaten semi-finalists.
FC Jager and North Star B will carry the flag for the third division but unfortunately there are unlikely to be many teams from division four featuring in the competition after the first two rounds, but newcomers Witham Friary could put a good run together and may even go all the way if the draw is kind to them.
For an outside bet FC Bradford might be the side to upset the odds.
AFC Melksham may have won the Westernsport Trophies sponsored WG Parr Trophy last season, but the chances of them defending the trophy that they won after beating White Hart Combe 2-0 look to be very slim as they have lost most of their winning squad to other teams.
Even if Melksham had the same side they would face stiff competition from fellow second division sides Hullavington, Audley FC and AFC Bell for whom it will be the first time they have been eligible for the competition.
The sides from division one who will probably do well are AFC Calne, Bremhill View Social Club and possibly Foresters Arms.
From division three FC Jager and The Crown FC should progress furthest with the former probably making the final two.
Mash Tun Villa may have the best chance of being the fourth division side who has the best cup run.
A challenge could come from Bradford News or Bromham (Sunday) who having reached the semi-final stage last season might see the Parr Trophy as their best chance of collecting some silverware.
