CARL Merchant, of the Wrag Barn club near Highworth won the Freddies Cup for the best nett score at Marlborough Golf Club's inaugural Junior Open.
The 23 handicapper's round of 92 (69) gave him the prize in front of the host club's Jamie Amor (90-17=73), who was himself ahead on countback from clubmate Charles Clark (95-22).
A total of 23 juniors attended the event, the Thistle Trophy for best gross score going to Marlborough's Ben Amor with 73.
Fellow club members Alex Ballard (85) and Sam Munton (87) filled the minor placings.
Chippenham's Alexandra Feltham was the best nett girl, with Marlborough's Will Mister winning the nearest the pin contest.
Meanwhile, Marlborough Ladies celebrated their centenary, with several events including a match, the trophy being won by Sheila Hubie, Gwen Stuart, Mandy Cooper and Maxi Strandberg-Glas.
