SWINDON Wildcats are adopting The National Bullying Helpline, Swindon's first national charity, as their designated charity for the 2009/2010 season.
Wildcats general manager Steve Nell said: "The Swindon Wildcats are a true community sports club and we are already working very hard with local schools through our roadshows and learn to skate programmes.
"But we also like to promote further messages within our visits and we are looking forward to working closer with The National Bullying Helpline both as part of our visits as well as helping them raise funds for what is a great and worthy local based charity" . Wildcats will devote this next season to promoting the importance of exercise and help spread the word about the good work carried out at the charity.
A representative from both Wildcats and The National Bullying Helpline charity will visit schools across Wiltshire over the next few months to reiterate and reinforce these important messages.
Christine Pratt, CEO of The National Bullying Helpline said: "We are absolutely delighted that the Swindon Wildcats have chosen our charity.
"There is a lot of common sense behind their strategy and we too encourage anyone who is struggling with a bullying or a stressful situation to ensure they both eat well and exercise regularly.
"The two form an important part of the therapeutic healing process."
The Wildcats home season starts at the Link with challenge games against the Guilford Flames on Saturday, September 12 and against the Slough Jets on Wednesday, September 16.
