FULL TIME: DIDCOT TOWN 0, CHIPPENHAM TOWN 2
FULL TIME: Chippenham continue their unbeaten start to the new season with a near complete away performance. Highmore was excellent but nobody let the side down and everyone did their job. See Thursday‘s Gazette and Herald for full reaction.
88 Mins: Benison on for Highmore. Even the Didcot fans are applauding his efforts. His performances have been excellent in both games so far.
84 Mins: Castello immediately makes an impact by crossing for Draycott but he again heads just wide. Didcot have had the chances to equalise, but it would be undeserved if they did.
82 Mins: Bassett on for Clough for Chippenham and . Good build-up play from Chippenham in the last five minutes, Highmore in particular, but the final ball has been missing each time. Castello on for Mortimer-Jones for Didcot.
74 Mins: Gullick off for Chippenham as Thomson comes on to stretch the defence. Hopkins replaces Morgan Williams for Didcot.
68 Mins: Good chance for Didcot as Sampson‘s inviting cross from deep is angled goal wards by Liam Hope, but spins wide. Then at the other end Williams plays in Highmore behind the defence, who bravely throws himself into a challenge with the keeper but his shots loops wide.
63 Mins: Clough booked for a high boot in front of the dugout but Mings protests that he won the ball. The referee intimates that one more of those and the Bristol Rovers man will be off.
60 Mins: A defensive error allows Draycott a run at goal and his shot is well saved y Snoddy, before Tindle heads over the bar to clear up. Chippenham have lacked their edge this half and it would not be a surprise to see Didcot pull one back.Bridges replaces Brown for the home side, which looks like an attacking change.
52 Mins: Lamb plays a ball into Highmore who dummies it and allows Powell to run onto it, but his low shot is well-saved. This front pairing look to have gelled immediately this season.
47 Mins: Williams plays a ball through to Highmore, who is clean through on goal, but the ref blows for a foul on the Welshman. Good opportunity wasted.
46 Mins: Second half is underway. David Pratt is here watching the game fresh off scoring for his new club Basingstoke last night.
HALF TIME: Chippenham‘s dream start to the season continues and they could be more than two goals up here in Didcot. On this form, Ben Highmore looks like the clinical striker Mings was crying out for all last season. Until the last ten minutes of the half, Didcot have not posed any real problems and Casey in particular looks composed in defence. Bluebirds fans will hope for more of the same in the second half.
41 Mins: …and at the other end Luke Gullick again bursts away from his marker and his powerful shot is well-saced. Good end to the half here.
40 Mins: First decent chance of the game for Didcot as Morgan Williams whips in a cross and Draycott messes up his header. The ball ricochets rounds the penalty area for a bit and the resulting corner is cleared.
35 Mins: Gullick ruins from just inside his own half and scuffs a shot at goal from 20 yards. Not a bad effort and his pace is still causing problems.
28 Mins: Mortimer-Jones booked for Didcot. Clever free kick ideas goes awry when Clough‘s ball to Gullick is too powerful and goes straight out for a corner.
24 Mins: Draycott heads over from a corner. Snoddy has still not had a save to make.
20 Mins: Lewis Powell opens his account for the season and it is 2-0 Chippenham. Ross Adams played the ball into the front man who had it all to do but turned his marker and blasted in from an acute angle. Good forward play but you have to say it was slack defending to allow him so much space.
GOAL, 20 MINS, LEWIS POWELL, CHIPPENHAM TOWN
17 Mins: Scott Lye gives away a needless free kick on the touchline but atones for his error with a brave block. Good play by the makeshift winger, who is certainly not shirking his defensive duties tonight.
13 Mins: Quiet five minutes in the game but Chippenham in control. Gullick looks dangerous with his pace on the wing.
8 Mins: Didcot‘s first effort of the game is a shot wide, from distance, by Mark Draycott - the former Chippenham Town man.
5 Mins: Ben Highmore has done it again! Scott Lye aimed a hopeful ball forward from his own half, but Highmore headed into his path and hit it right-footed into the bottom corner. He has made the step up three levels of football with no problem at all. What a start.
GOAL, 5 MINS, BEN HIGHMORE, CHIPPENHAM TOWN
3 Mins: Scrappy start the game. Chippenham have lined up in a 4-4-2 with Lye and Gullick on the flanks and Clough and Williams in the middle of the park.
1 Mins: We‘re off and underway.
