Fourth Division side Corsham Park Rangers played against Corsham Park Rangers old boys side to help raise funds for diabetics uk in memory of a former Corsham Park player Kevin Collins who died in 2004.
The division four side were three up inside 30 minutes thanks to goals from Jake Marshall, James Parsons and Chris Farley, before Luke Wolf pulled one back for the old boys.
It was the old boys who started the better in the second half and it wasn’t long before Servet Aslan reduced the deficit to the odd goal and the gap was soon wiped out when Corsham Park’s Martin Gould bought down old boy Paul Park who picked himself had scored from the penalty spot to make it three each. It wasn’t long before some of the old boys started to tire and Corsham Park got back into the game with two goals from James Parsons that saw him complete his hat trick, a second from Jake Marshall and one from Andy Wood made it 7-3 before Kevin Bance got a last minute goal for the old boys to make it 7-4.
Malford bag two friendly wins in five days After a sluggish start in their pre-season friendlies Second division Christian Malford look as if they have got their act together as they claimed two wins in five days.
Malford started with a 1-0 over Trowbridge League newcomers Chippenham Old Boys on Wednesday night with the very tight contest being won by Joe Chaffey solitary effort, Chaffey volleyed home a beauty from a Rob Blackwood cross early in the second half give Malford their win in a match that was probably the best team performance from a Malford side for some time.
On Sunday Malford travelled to Somerford and a close battle saw them defeat their division four opponents 2-1, in what was a game of two halves. Somerford dominated the first half and deservedly took the lead after 23 minutes with a stunning volley after Malford failed to clear their lines. Malford were lucky not to concede more but kept the score to 1-0 at half time.
Changes to Malford's midfield and defence paid dividends as Malford began to find their players and press the Somerford defence. Pete Angell equalised for Malford after 76 minutes following a defensive mix up in the Somerford area, leaving him able to prod the ball home.
After 82 minutes Malford took the lead against a tiring Somerford when Fabian Prangle cut in from the right to volley home the winner.
The only sour note for Malford was what could be a serious ankle ligament injury in the closing minutes to their young defensive Centre back Declan Flood as he attempted to clear a Somerford attack into touch.
Westbury Rangers draw six-each with Earlstoke prisoners Third division Westbury Rangers B followed up their recent 5-3 victory over Steeple Ashton Rangers with a thrilling draw away at Earlstoke prisoners and it was a case of Rangers using their get out of jail free card as Dave Griffins side came from 3-1, 5-2 and 6-5 down to snatch a 6-6 draw. Earlstoke took a two goal lead before Neil Gordon netted the first of his three goals. A second from Gordon narrowed the gap to the odd goal before Earlstoke turned on the style and opened up a 5-2 lead.
Rangers managed to peg the home team back as goals from Gordon that saw him complete his hat trick and Dale Rowlands made it 5-4 before Matty Mead fired home a stunner to level the scores at five apiece.
With time running out Earlstoke regained the lead but once again Rangers hit back than to spectacular finish from Matty Mead who unleashed a blistering strike from 25 yards out to put the icing on what was a good second half performance from a Rangers side against a very good Earlstoke side. Two wins and 15 more goals for the Audley Having beaten North Star A 3-1 last weekend, second division Audley FC beat the same opponents on Tuesday evening 7-1, Dave Nolan scored a three timer as did Matt Page was making his debut. Kieren Smith’s single made up the seven.
Audley then hit eight unanswered goals at the weekend as they thumped fourth division side Chippenham West End 8-0. Dave Nolan was on target again with a double but he was out scored by Craig Manley who bagged a treble, Mike Few scored a brace and Tom Porter made up the eight with thunderbolt from 25 yards out.
