Biddestone 3rd XI got back to winning ways with a comfortable 85 run victory over Beckington on Saturday.

Biddestone were asked to bat first and got off to a solid start thanks to Jon Mason (12) and Hywel Evans (27), but 4 quick wickets left the innings finely balanced at 74-4.

Martin Peters bowled a good opening spell for Beckington to claim a couple of wickets. The cornerstone of the innings came from a 113 run partnership between Dave Kilmurray (63) and Chris Casey (46) as they first rebuilt the innings and then pressed on the accelerator to ensure a competitive total.

There were a few cheap wickets at the end as Biddestone looked for more quick runs and the innings closed on 210-9. In reply, Andy Marsh (2-53) struck in the first over, but a partnership between Wilson and Ruster looked to be laying a good foundation for Beckington until Marsh removed Ruster with the score on 54.

From that point on, Beckington struggled to gain any momentum in their innings as Ben Copeland (12 overs, 4-28) and Craig Pepper (4-11) both bowled superbly to guide Biddestone to victory in the 35th over as Beckington were dismissed for 125.
