Forty two budding young golf stars, six under the age of 10, showed off their skills when they teed-off at the ‘Hills Junior Golf Championship’ at Broome Manor Golf Club on 5 August.
The Marlborough-based Hills Group has sponsored the event for the past twenty four years, with the first tournament being held in 1985. Nick King, Divisional Managing Director of Hills Property Limited presented the winners with their trophy’s with the Junior Girls’ title being won by Yasmine Broocks, Broome Manor Golf Club and the Junior Boys’ title going to Ben Amor, Marlborough Golf Club.
Notable past winners of the competition include Swindon-based, European Tour and past Ryder Cup player David Howell (1991 and 1992) and current England-A Golf Squad player Sam Matton (2006).
Tee-off started at 10.00am. Players aged 10 and over played the full 18-hole course, whilst those aged under 10 played 9 holes.
