Swindon hit sixty for the second time in 2009 as the Wiltshire side eased past a Peterborough septet that offered surprisingly little resistance.

Incredibly, the Robins registered heat advantages in the opening ten heats and Peterborough only supplied one race victory throughout the course of the evening.

The effectiveness of both Panthers’ tactical rides were thwarted as Swindon contributed a strong team performance.

The Peterborough pairing of Henning Bager and Claus Vissing didn’t arrive at the Abbey Stadium until heat seven after the Danish duo were stranded in heavy traffic en route to Wiltshire.

The Panthers were able to utilise Kenneth Hansen in the opening seven races to cover for Vissing and Bager with only one race seeing a solitary Peterborough rider take to track.

Swindon’s scorecard was headed by a splendid paid fifteen point maximum from Simon Stead who deservedly scooped the man of the match award.

The Brit’s tally was excellently acquired and he received solid support from Robins’ captain Leigh Adams who amassed a full twelve point maximum. Matej Zagar notched twelve from five whilst Travis McGowan contributed paid eleven from six rides.

The Swindon reserve department once again excelled and the Robins’ duo of Hurry and Fisher collected a paid seventeen point total.

Peterborough’s scorecard was headed by former Robin Mads Korneliussen who notched paid thirteen.

Robins' Captain Leigh Adams collected a tapes to flag victory in the opener and repelled a strong opening lap challenge from Ales Dryml. Ryan Fisher showed good race pace in the early stages but was unable to conjure a route past second placed Dryml.

Taking his second ride in quick succession Ryan Fisher roared underneath Peterborough's Kenneth Hansen on the back straight of the opening lap to grab the lead. Fisher held the ascendancy from that point on whilst Paul Hurry battled tenaciously to try and forge a route past Kenneth Hansen. The Panthers' reserve prevailed but the resultant 4-2 advantage in Swindon's favour provided the Robins' with a four point lead.

A third successive Robins' 4-2 ensued as Simon Stead and Travis McGowan combined.

Swindon extended their lead to ten points in race four as Matej Zagar and Paul Hurry secured a well deserved 5-1 heat advantage. Zagar took the lead on the back straight of the opening lap whilst Hurry dived underneath Hansen on turn four of the final lap much to the delight of the Robins' faithful.

Panthers' Captain Niels Kristian Iversen was nominated for a tactical ride in race five but the effectiveness of the Danish International was thwarted by Simon Stead and Travis McGowan who shrewdly kept the visiting rider at bay throughout, the resultant 5-1 launched Swindon into a commanding fourteen point lead.

Heat six saw Swindon secure a further 4-2 advantage as Robins' Captain Leigh Adams and in form reserve Ryan Fisher combined. Peterborough's Kenneth Hansen touched the tapes in the initial staging and started the race from fifteen metres back.

Matej Zagar notched a comfortable victory over Mads Korneiussen in race seven as Paul Hurry slotted into third after fending off a spirited charge from Henning Bager.

Fisher and Stead contributed a further 5-1 in heat eight.

Swindon's unrelenting dominance continued in race nine as the lively Robins' pairing of Stead and McGowan romped to a comfortable 5-1.

A tenth successive heat advantage ensued as Leigh Adams maintained his unblemished run of heat wins. Meanwhile, Travis McGowan tussled with Mads Korneliussen and it was the Peterborough rider who grabbed second spot.

The visiting side registered their first heat advantage of the evening in race eleven as Niels Kristian Iversen inflicted defeat on a hard charging Matej Zagar, Mads Korneliussen was nominated for a tactical ride in race twelve but his efforts were halted by Simon Stead who inflicted defeat on the Peterborough rider.

Adams and Zagar notched a 4-2 in race thirteen before McGowan and Hurry roared to an excitingly acquired penultimate heat 5-1. That moved Swindon’s advantage to a colossal thirty two points and the lead stayed that way as a victory from Matej Zagar in the concluding race maintained the Robins’ ** SWINDON return to action on Friday evening (19th June) when Alun Rossiter's table topping side head to Coventry's Brandon Stadium for an Elite League 'B' clash.

The Robins will continue to operate the rider replacement facility for Jurica Pavlic. Elsewhere, club No.8 Richard Sweetman slots into the reserve department alongside Paul Hurry.
