Cricket: Box suffered yet another narrow defeat on Saturday as Spye Park ran out winners by 3 wickets with 10 balls to spare.

After winning the toss Box captain Dave Crawford chose to bat and it wasn't long before Spye made the breakthrough, Doughty (1-11) trapping Bultitude (3) LBW.

Order was restored to the score as Neil Pettit (30) and Gerald Hayward (41) took the score to 74 before Hayward lofted a simple catch to Doel from the bowling of Hulse (3-62).

Jake Pettit (22) joined his father at the wicket but the partnership was short as Neil was bowled by a quicker ball from Hulse.

Trotman fell for a duck to Dave Beal (1-44) caught behind with serious debate as to whether bat made contact with the ball.

Jake Pettit was out to a catchby Hues for Hulses third wicket and Crawford (2) clipped a sharp catch to West from Taylors bowling (2-25) to leave Box struggling on 143 for 7.

Marcus Bray smashed 5 fours and a six on his way to 33 and was supported well by Rob Styles who wafted the bat with same effect to finish unbeaten on 27 to bring the 45 over total to 187 for 8.

Spye made a steady start Tim Hues (24) and Andy Ellis (16) before Crawford found the edge of Hues' bat to a catch by stand in Wicket keeper Hayward. Crawford finishing with a miserley spell of 1 for 18 from his 12 overs.

Rob Styles capped off a good day by claiming 3 wickets (3-31) from his 12 overs to account for Dave Beal (38), Bowled, A. Beal for a duck and Ellis, also bowled to leave Spye on 115 for 4 with 13 overs left.

The introduction of Trotman (3-44) to the attack paid dividends as he bowled both West (31) and Hulse (0) and also removed Doel (10) with help of a catch in the deep from Dancey.

At this stage Spye were on 142 for 7, needing six an over for the last 7 or 8 overs.

Bowater (37no) and Taylor (16no) batted well to give Spye the victory with just 10 balls to spare.
