Ex-England paceman Andy Caddick took two wickets in a lengthy spell this morning in a rare appearance for Wiltshire.

The Somerset fast bowler, 40, is playing for the county in there three day Minor Counties Championship game against Wales at Usk, finishing today, as he bids to prove his fitness to his employers for the rest of the summer.

With the contest seemingly heading for a draw, Caddick began the morning with a 13 over back-to-back spell of bowling in which he took two Welsh wickets as the hosts reached 84-2.

The New Zealand-born player also took three wickets in the first innings of the rain-affected game.

South Wilts' Ross Crick was the unlucky player to miss out for the former international, who took 234 test wickets and over 1,100 in the first class game.

The possibility of Caddick playing in the game first arose when Somerset contacted team manager Neil Shardlow last week due to a lack of upcoming second team fixtures for him to work his way back to full fitness.

A committee meeting approved the move and it is understood discussions are ongoing about the possibility of Caddick playing in Sunday make-or-break MCCA Trophy quarter final clash against Oxfordshire at Corsham.
