Cricket: Chippenham 4th enjoyed their first victory of the season after a comfortable win away to Bathford 2nds.

After winning the toss Chippenham 4ths bowlers put the Bathford batsmen under pressure, with an early run out orchestrated by Matt Cole.

Bathford 2nds were in trouble at 9-2 after five overs.

A partnership between M. Hunter and young L. Merritt (12 years old) looked like bringing Bathford back into the match.

However, this was not to be as both Hunter and Merritt became victims of Chippenham skipper David Jones, who ended up with figures of 5-29 in nine overs with one maiden.

Jones was supported with good fielding throughout the innings and Pavraj Lochab who took 2-14 in his 6 overs. Bathford ended up being bowled out for 95 in the 35th over.

In reply Chippenham's innings began with a sticky start also, after losing the second wicket with only 25 on the board, a vital partnership ensued between Matt Cole and Andy Dyer.

Cole after hitting a superb 6 tried to repeat the shot, only to be spectacularly caught by one of the Bathford fielders one handed over his head on 33.

There more nervy moments to follow for Chippenham as Ian Waller collected a double wicket maiden, and on a hattrick, in his 4th over, but Dyer (28*) and Lochab ensured victory for Chippenham by 5 wickets, reaching the target in the 32nd over.
