Gavin Kilkenny said that Swindon Town's penalty shoot-out defeat to Accrington Stanley was a tough one to take after a strong performance.
Tyler Walton netted twice for Accrington with Grant Hall and Joel Cotterill scoring in between those strikes as Town were taken to penalties having had a man less for much of the game.
Kilkenny said that after the effort that Swindon had put in and how close they came to victory, crashing out of the FA Cup on penalties was tough to swallow.
He said: "We are all wrecked because it was a long time with ten men, so that was tough on the legs having gone down a man after 30 minutes.
"The nature of getting ahead with ten men and then having the sucker punch right at the end was disappointing.
"The character we showed to get back into the game and go 2-1 up was very pleasing and I thought for large parts that we looked like the better team even with ten men.
"It was one of our better performances, so everyone is gutted because we really wanted to get into the next round.
"Having come so close in normal time and then even in extra time we had a couple of little chances and they never really had clear chances to score.
"Obviously we rode our luck a little bit but it is a tough one to take with the manner of the loss."
Swindon won't have much time to stew on their defeat as they head to Colchester United on Tuesday night before welcoming Fleetwood Town to The Nigel Eady County Ground on Saturday as the fight for survival hots up.
Kilkenny said: "I think that Accrington have got the same with a game on Tuesday and it is not ideal but I don't think we will be thinking about that when the whistle blows on Tuesday.
"We will have to be clever with our recovery in what we do between now and Tuesday night.
"I don't think that it will have any part to play and we will be ready for the game.
"We need to become more resilient and try and stick together and I think that we started to see some of that today when things weren't going well we rallied together.
"I think you are seeing signs of what we are doing in training ahead of two massive games in the league which is the most important thing."
