Swindon Town find themselves separated from rock bottom just by goal difference after falling to a 3-2 home defeat to Morecambe.
Jamie Stott and Ben Tollitt had the visitors well ahead inside 15 minutes before Aaron Drinan and Ryan Delaney both scored their first goals of the season to get Town back in contention but Hallam Hope saw The Shrimps head home with all three points.
So, how did the players fare as individuals at The Nigel Eady County Ground?
GK: Jack Bycroft – 4
I am still not having this being his fault, for the record. Swindon again conjured up a display when they put themselves under too much pressure. This time he didn’t make as many big saves but he was again let down by those in front of him.
RB: Will Wright – 3
During the period between their goals when Swindon played alright, Wright was performing to a good level. But the defence was a mess throughout and Swindon kept letting runners in down the side.
CB: Grant Hall – 2
Ian Holloway said he was hoping Hall’s leadership would help Swindon. It did not. He won less than half of his headers and Marcus Dackers bullied him and Delaney.
CB: Ryan Delaney – 3
Delaney did score but that doesn’t transform the performance of a defender. Like Hall, Dackers had him where he wanted him and he dominated in the air.
LB: George Cox – 4
I think that Cox’s long throws were the best thing about Town’s game. I am not sure that he brought a whole lot else but it was still most of the attack.
RM: Joel McGregor – 3
There were boos when McGregor came off and I love him as much as the next man but this was not his best display. He will always give you absolute commitment and he did that but he looked uncomfortable.
CM: Gavin Kilkenny – 3
This was not a game where there was much of a midfield duel and so it did not suit Kilkenny. He put himself about a bit but Swindon really struggled to work the ball from the back into attacking situations and that should be his department.
CM: Nnamdi Ofoborh – 5
Ofoborh was the best of a bad bunch of the starters. He got stuck in and made himself known on the pitch, winning all of his ground duels. He lacked a bit on the ball but defensively he did well.
LM: Danny Butterworth – 2
There was one run down the left early on that made me think we might get some of last week again. Unfortunately, that is the last thing I can remember him doing.
ST: Kabongo Tshimanga – 2
Tshimanga took up some good positions in the box but seemed to get caught up grappling with defenders instead of getting on the end of things and his touch was loose when he did.
ST: Harry Smith – 2
I lost count of the number of times he was offside. Smith has a fire in him but the rain seemed to put it out as he never got going.
Substitutes:
Aaron Drinan – 6
This was comfortably his most impactful display of the season. Making his mark whilst the jeers still came down to score his first and he took that on and caused problems that nobody else was.
Jaxon Brown – 4
He definitely seemed a bit unsure of himself when asked to play at right-back. After moving into midfield he calmed down a had a few good touches. He has shown enough to come back and deserves more time to show why.
Joel Cotterill – 5
Cotterill had a bit more urgency than the rest of the teams and drove Swindon into good positions. It did not lead to much in the way of chances, but with the bar on the floor, it was something.
Paul Glatzel – N/A
Sean McGurk – N/A
