Jaxon Brown has returned from his loan spell at Canvey Island because Ian Holloway believes he is ready to impact the Swindon Town first team.

It was announced on Wednesday that Brown was returning from his spell in the Isthmian League Division One North, where he impressed heavily as he scored six goals and won the Player of the Month award for September during his 15-game stint in Essex.

Brown got his start with the senior side under Jody Morris before making seven appearances across all competitions last season, along with being a key member of the under-18s as they made the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals.

Town’s manager revealed that Brown had performed especially well in his fabled run to check the fitness of the squad.

He said: “He smashed my run that I do, he probably got the fourth best ever time and he looked like he had more in him.

“I think that the overall record could be his.”

Holloway said that the commitment he has seen from the 18-year-old during training has shown him that he is making a strong play to be part of the first team.

He said: “His enthusiasm is completely insane, he would run through that wall instead of opening the door if I asked him to and there would be a big Jaxon-shaped hole in it.

“Life is all about how much you want it and how much you can show it.

“The only difficulty that I have got, which everybody else has told me, is where do you play him? I don’t really care.

“If I was one of the lads in my group and I saw him coming back I would be thinking ‘Woah, hang on a minute, he is going to try and take my place because he can play anywhere.’

“When I work him into my shapes I will figure out where he goes but what a great asset that is to have.

“He is someone who is going to rip their skin off to play for your club – what more do you need?

“You have to balance it with knowledge, calculated talking, and also the freshness and exuberance of the youth team who are desperate to make their mark.

“Hopefully I am right and he won’t be sat on the bench, he will be ripping into the team and I have to tell someone ‘Sorry mate, he is playing.’”
