As round one of the FA Cup came to a close, it meant that England’s fourth division returned.

There have been some shock results over the last week alongside injuries and departures, but what is happening in League Two?

Fleetwood defender suffers ACL injury

Centre back Harrison Holgate has suffered an ACL injury that will keep him out of action for up to a year.
The 24-year-old appeared in five league games for the Cods but is unlikely to return until next season.

Charlie Adam’s side are currently amid an injury crisis at the back, with players such as Zech Medley, Brendan Wiredu, James Bolton, Rhys Bennett and Mackenzie Hunt all out injured.

Kenny Jackett steps down at Gillingham

Gillingham’s director of football Kenny Jackett has decided to leave his role at the Kent side due to medical reasons.

He joined the Gills just under a year after being sacked from then-League Two Leyton Orient.

Andy Hessenthaler and Joe Comper will oversee the role following the shock departure.

Carlisle sign Kadeem Harris

Mike Williamson’s side have reinforced their midfield with the signing of former Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday player Kadeem Harris.

The 31-year-old has been a free agent since his release from Turkish team Sanliurfaspor, where he made 22 appearances in the second division of Turkey,

He made his debut for the Cumbrian side in their surprise victory over Salford City on the weekend as he came on as a substitute and played 18 minutes.

Gillingham’s grim run comes to an end

Mark Bonner’s side got their first win since September in a shock result against table-toppers Port Vale.

Jayden Clarke met a Conor Masterson cross and headed past Connor Ripley in the only shot on target from both teams in the whole 90 minutes.

It puts Gillingham just one point off the play-off places but the Valiants stay top despite their first loss since Doncaster in August.

Challenge to stay out the bottom two heats up following key wins:

23rd and 24th place are the two spots no League Two team ever wants to see their team in, as it results in relegation to the National League.

Carlisle and Morecambe have been the two teams who have struggled this season but they both won on the weekend and this has resulted in the race to stay out of the dreaded zone heating up.

Ben Barclay’s last minute goal sealed a huge three points for Carlisle against Salford, whilst Harvey Macadam’s 96th minute winner against Harrogate gave Morecambe their second win in two games.

Bromley, Harrogate, Colchester and Swindon are the other teams who will be trying to turn around their luck as they aim to not find themselves in difficult situations this early in the campaign.
