Sean McGurk said that it has not been easy being on the fringes at Swindon Town and being expected to influence things with limited time.
Swindon secured passage to the Bristol Street Motors Trophy knockout phase with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s, with McGurk setting up the equaliser for Danny Butterworth and then scoring the winner.
McGurk said after the match that he hopes to get a more regular run of games now after having had limited exposure in the first team so far this season.

He said: “Every footballer wants to play, no one wants to sit on the bench or not be in squads and things like that.
“We have got a very good group and that is football, sometimes things like this happen for different reasons and I have been on the end of that in the last couple of weeks.
“With how big our squad is, that is going to happen to six lads every week but I have come in for the last two games and I think that I have done okay, so hopefully I can keep going and enjoying it.
“Fingers crossed [I am turning a corner] because it can be hard when you haven’t played for four or five weeks and then you get thrown in and people expect you to go straight in and run the show.
“Life is not like that, so getting the match minutes is key and with playing these games I just want to keep going and not look back.”
McGurk has been given the chance to impress by Ian Holloway in the last two games and has done just that, as he was a constant danger against Spurs, along with having a big hand in both goals.
He said: “It is different adapting to a new manager but growing up I have had free roles like this before, you have still got to have the structure but I am enjoying it and I have got to keep going with it.
“I feel fit, even if I haven’t been playing much, I have been trying my best to stay fit and try hard in training every day.
“Goals and assists are probably the strongest part of my game, I can do that for the team.
“[On his goal] The defender made the angle for me and I just thought that if I could bend it then it has a good chance of going in and luckily it did.”
