Ian Holloway and Kabongo Tshimanga that Swindon Town had shown positive early signs with how they want to play with their 2-1 win over Colchester United.
In the new manager's first game in charge, Colchester took the lead through Harry Anderson in the second half with a low strike across Jack Bycroft.
But substitute Joel McGregor slammed home before the end of regulation to take the game to an extra half an hour.
Then in the 107th minute of the match, Tshimanga slammed home from close range to take Swindon into the Second Round for only the fourth time in 13 years.
Holloway spoke after the match about how he felt the fans had carried them through the match and responded to the way the team had tried to play - also stressing the importance of creating a strong relationship with them.
He also accepted that despite getting the strong start to his tenure, there was a lot of work that still needed to be done to get the team clicking exactly as he wanted them to.
Tshimanga spoke about the feeling of scoring the winning goal during extra time in front of The Town End to send the team he through.
He also discussed the new style that Holloway was looking to bring to the team and how he believed it would get a lot out of himself and the other forwards.
