Swindon Town defender Tariq Uwakwe has returned to the club following the conclusion of his loan spell at Maidenhead United.

The 24-year-old joined the Magpies on the 20th of September and made one appearance in the National League.

It was agreed for the versatile player to leave the club in the last transfer window on a free with a deal being agreed, but it fell through due to an injury at the buying club.

It was further revealed that Uwakwe had been training away from the Town first team whilst an exit was sought and he made a move away on loan last month.

He was one of two players who were told by Mark Kennedy that they were not in his plans, with Saidou Khan being the other. Khan got a move to fellow League Two side Tranmere Rovers, whilst the former Crewe player had an anxious wait to find his new club.

The former Chelsea player joined the club on a free transfer in August last year and featured eight times in League Two for the Robins as he struggled with injury throughout the campaign.

His contract is set to expire in June next year.
