Swindon continued their poor home form with a late defeat to second place Doncaster.

Joe Ironside’s penalty was the winning moment for the visitors as Town dropped to 21st in the league table and obtained the second worst home form in the League.

So, how did the players fare as individuals?

GK: Daniel Barden – 5

An interesting afternoon for the Norwich loanee. He pulled off two good saves (Stop to deny Billy Sharp was great) and did what was expected of him but almost cost us a goal when the ball slipped out of his hands from the corner and had a few other risky moments.

RCB: Tunmise Sobowale – 5

Sobowale certainly wasn’t bad against Doncaster but I don’t think he offered too much. Did what was expected of him and was average.

CB: Will Wright – 5

It was a quiet afternoon for Wright. I don’t think he should have let Joseph Olowu beat him in the air for the first goal but Miguel Freckleton was also in the mix there and it could have been his man but it’s not clear. He showed some promise at times when it came to initiating the first stages of play from playing out the back but maybe not as much as he would have liked.

LCB: Miguel Freckleton – 2

It’s clear he is low on confidence and I think he really needs time out of the squad as Ryan Delaney is fit. He struggled in the first half with a few nervy moments and almost cost us a goal in the second half but Wright was there to spare his blushes. He also gave away the penalty in the dying moments.

LWB: George Cox – 4

I don’t think Cox really offered much in the tie. It was always going to be hard to match the exceptional performance that he displayed at Cheltenham but for his standards, it was not the best display by any means.

RWB: Joel McGregor – 7

My personal man of the match. I think he was the standout performer in the loss, he brings creativity and loves to drive at players which causes trouble. It will be a struggle to keep him on the books at Swindon if he keeps performing.

DM: Gavin Kilkenny – 5

It’s an average five for the Irish midfielder. In his deep role he is never going to directly create much, but he did his job and nothing more.

CM: Ollie Clarke – 5

There were small glimpses of the Clarke we signed in midfield today. Whilst he was not outstanding and gets a five rating, I think he added a bit of physicality in midfield and did okay for himself.

CM: Joel Cotterill – 4

I struggle to recall moments of the game where Cotterill was involved. He wasn’t playing high enough at times and almost disappeared in play. His role is to add attacking bite in the midfield but Clarke offered more in that sense.

ST: Danny Butterworth - 4

I don’t think Butterworth suited the game at all and I believe we would have been better with Harry Smith starting but it was clear that he was simply not fit enough to. The ex-Carlisle man had a few small moments of creativity and did better when he played in a different role in the second half.

ST: Paul Glatzel – 4

Maybe this is harsh but I think Glatzel struggled out there. He struggled to control the ball in a lot of key areas but did make a few promising runs and did put in effort. He came off at half time due to an issue with his hamstring so maybe that answers a lot of questions.

Substitutes:
Rosaire Longelo – 5

I liked the look of Longelo when he came on. He created the goal and provided more than what Cox had. He had that spring in his step and wanted to be creative when he had the ball down the left (which wasn’t a lot).

Harry Smith – 4

It was good to see Smith back out there and he suited the game. He did well to score the goal but he wasn’t involved as much as he would have wanted and did give away a free kick not long before the penalty which added unnecessary pressure onto us.

Nnamdi Ofoborh – 5

Whilst many might not agree with this, I think Ofoborh did okay in his 26-minute cameo. He is not a player who will change the game going forward because that isn’t his role but did attempt to when he had the ball. It’s opinionated to whether he was the right substitution to make when you’re 1-0 down.

Kabongo Tshimanga – 3

He touched the ball four times and had one dragged shot which was easily saved by the keeper. He did make runs however and showed signs that he wanted to do things but the game didn’t allow him to.
