ROYAL Wootton Bassett continued their recent inconsistent form with a 36-7 defeat away to Camberley in Regional One South Central at the weekend.
Following a seven-point victory at home to Banbury on Bonfire Night, Bassett conceded six tries as the Surrey side powered home their advantage late on.
A tight first half allowed Bassett to stay in the game, and Gavin Ougan dotted down out wide before Troy Cusack slotted the conversion as the visitors replied to an early Camberley score.
But after losing Connor Tomley and Iwan Floyd to first-half injuries, Alan Low's men were running on attacking fumes in Surrey and failed to notch another point as Camberley scored five unanswered tries to claim victory.
Elsewhere, in Regional Two Severn, Chippenham maintained third position in the table thanks to a 34-19 win away at local rivals Frome.
Trowbridge, who are currently bottom of the same division, claimed a vital victory at home to relegation rivals Winscombe.
A 31-24 success featured a try-scoring bonus point to leave Trowbridge on 10 points, and just four adrift of Winscombe, Frome, and Gordano.
In Regional Two South Central, Marlborough were awarded a home walkover against Buckingham, while Devizes lost 52-19 away at second-place Stow-on-the-Wold.
